Choose the Windows default output

Before you begin

This workflow applies to Windows. Stop routing before using the manual default-output selector. Test the intended output in Windows first.

Step by step

1. Open Control and choose the intended device in the Windows default-output selector.
2. Wait for the new endpoint to become available. The selector changes Console and Multimedia defaults, not the communications default.
3. Select other compatible outputs for PairChord routing, then start your system-audio session.
4. Use the supported default-output volume and mute controls when adjusting that system endpoint. The waveform can show its audio activity before routing starts.

Check the result

Windows plays the default endpoint directly. PairChord processes the additional routed outputs. During routing, waveform activity follows routed audio levels after volume and EQ.

If something goes wrong

You cannot add PairChord delay, EQ, or balance processing to the direct default-output path. A waveform indicates measured activity, not proof that every speaker is audible. Try using the slower device as default and delay the faster routed outputs.
